Staff Product Designer

Black Airplane is a digital product agency dedicated to solving complex business problems through innovative technology and design. We focus on developing impactful products by combining technical expertise with a commitment to creative excellence.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer (UI/UX) to join our team of digital product aces and lead our design efforts for small and large-scale projects, collaborating with cross-functional internal and external teams to create outstanding digital products and experiences.

This is a full-time, remote position (US only).

Requirements

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end design process for various digital B2B and B2C projects, including websites, e-commerce sites, web apps, and mobile applications.

  • Collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand, capture, and organize project requirements, goals, and target audiences.

  • Translate complex business objectives and user needs into intuitive and visually appealing design concepts.

  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity visual designs, and interactive prototypes that effectively communicate design ideas and user flows.

  • Acts as the go-to person for design guidance and expert on large or highly complex projects.

  • Mentor and guide junior designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, technologies, and industry best practices, and incorporate them into design processes.

  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to ensure design implementation meets high-quality standards and project-specific requirements.

  • Provide comprehensive product/digital experience documentation for clean and clear development handoff.

  • Break down complex problems into potential solutions, knowns, and unknowns swiftly to facilitate faster resolution.

  • This is a highly client-facing role and will be responsible for presenting/demoing design artifacts to internal stakeholders and clients, with high attention to detail and strong communication skills, capturing feedback and changes for future iterations and presentations.

  • Effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

  • Work closely with Design Leadership to assess and improve design processes, tools, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and productivity.

About You

  • 6-8 years of professional experience, with either agency or digital product company experience.

  • Proficient in design software such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

  • Expert level understanding of UI & UX best practices.

  • Strong ability to lead projects with little to no oversight while still communicating well with Design Leadership, internal team members, and external stakeholders.

  • You are interested in your career as a craft and research new technologies and trends.

  • You have a positive personality and a desire to work on a team that invests in each other both personally and professionally.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering small and large-scale design projects from concept to completion.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively present and articulate design concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • You are able to break down complex problems into intuitive user experiences.

  • You can manage your time effectively, setting priorities and deadlines for projects you are responsible for.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail and quality of work.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of digital product design projects, highlighting your problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and creativity.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor and guide junior designers is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $116,500 - $142,500.

Black Airplane is a fully remote friendly environment. Work location is flexible if approved by Black Airplane, except that the position may not be performed remotely from AK, CA, HI, MA, NY, OR, WA, or outside of the United States.
